Las Vegas is aiming to be the first sizeable American city to run 100% of its city operations on renewable energy. Las Vegas is home to nearly 614,000 people and is known worldwide for its bright lights and being open 24/7.
This is a huge step forward prior to this week's COP - the Climate Change Conference held in Paris, France. This bold decision shows that it is entirely possible to achieve running city operations using renewable only energy.
Vegas currently gets a portion of its energy needs from renewables though NV Energy. The added boost needed will come though 100 MW Boulder City solar farm that is still under development.
